Award Terms

  • Awards Committee – the team that runs the awards.

  • Eligible Entrants – businesses or people (formal or informal) who meet the rules and are nominated.

  • Finalists – nominees who win a category and move to the last round for the top national award.

  • Gateway Score – the minimum score needed to stay in the competition.

  • Nominees – businesses or people who pass all checks and interviews. They compete for category awards.

  • Runner Up – finalists who place 2nd or 3rd in a category or in the national top 3.

  • Nano Enterprises – very small, informal family businesses with little money and few workers.

  • Micro Enterprises – registered, citizen-owned businesses with fewer than 5 workers and yearly sales under K200,000.

  • SMEs – small to medium businesses with 5–100 workers, assets worth K20,000–K10 million, and yearly income between K200,000–K10 million.

  • Young Entrepreneur – business owners aged 18–35 with registered companies that have been running for at least 3 years.
